Set in the village of Greendale (inspired by Longsleddale in Cumbria) this classic stop-motion animated series focussed on local postman, Pat, who delivers the mail in his red van (reg PAT 1) with his black and white cat, Jess. They have all sorts of adventures, and often interact with other characters in Greendale such as Mrs Groggins in the Post Office, and farmers Pete Fogg and Alf Thomson.
The first series from 1981 only had 13 episodes, but it was brought back to life in 1996 (also made by Woodland Animations), where Pat had a family of his own. A third series in 2004 was made by Cosgrove Hall, and after Royal Mail no longer wished to have an association to Pat, he became an employee of the fictional Special Delivery Service.
