The Transformers was a hugely successful franchise, part of which was this animated series, The Transformers, which was based on the Japanese toy line Takara (later developed by Hasbro in the USA). "Generation 1" of the cartoon ran for 4 seasons, along with a full length movie released - Transformes: The Movie, in 1986. The storylines focused on the constant battle between the Autobots and the Decepticons.
